What Drives the Cost of a Capability Video

Mark Giddens · 18 August 2026

"How much will it cost?" is usually the first question about a capability video, and fair enough. We don't publish a price list, because every project is different, but these are the things that drive the cost.

What drives the cost

  • Pre-production: planning, interviews to find the story, and scripting. It's what makes the edit work.
  • Filming: how many days, sites and people we film.
  • The edit: length, graphics, captions, voiceover and the number of versions.
  • Extras: aerial footage, animation or graphics to explain a process.
  • Travel: if your sites are a long way away, travel is part of the cost, and it's set out in the quote.

What's included as standard

  • Pre-production: research, scripting and scheduling
  • Two rounds of revisions (our own mistakes are always fixed free)
  • Delivery in 1080p, with 16:9 plus square and vertical versions for social media
  • Review through private online links
  • Project files kept, so updates later are easy

How long it takes

  • Planning: usually one to two weeks
  • Filming: one or two days, depending on locations
  • Editing: usually two to four weeks from shoot to finished video

Getting the best value

  • Film several sites or interviews in a single day where you can
  • Get your people and sites ready, so filming time isn't wasted
  • Ask for the social media versions as part of the main edit
  • Plan for recruitment and tender versions from the same shoot

How we quote

We start with a short call about your business and what you want the video to do. Then you get a fixed quote in writing. If the budget is tight, we'll tell you straight and give you options.
