Heyfield Microgrid
The "MyTown Microgrid" project in Heyfield has been a collaborative effort involving the Heyfield Community Resource Centre, Wattwatchers Digital Energy, and the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) Institute for Sustainable Futures. The multi-year feasibility study aimed to create a data-led approach to understanding and potentially implementing local energy solutions. This involved in-depth community engagement, energy monitoring in homes and businesses using Wattwatchers devices, and analyzing various technical, economic, and regulatory aspects of establishing a microgrid.
Turbine Media's role was to capture and convey the story of the Heyfield Microgrid project. This involved producing informative and engaging content that highlights the project's objectives, challenges, community involvement, and outcomes. Such visual storytelling is crucial for sharing the learnings from pioneering initiatives like the Heyfield Microgrid with a broader audience, including other communities, policymakers, and industry stakeholders, thereby amplifying the project's impact beyond the immediate locality. The film produced aimed to document the Heyfield community's journey and share the experiences of residents, business owners, and community leaders involved in the MyTown project.
