Using Recruitment Videos in Job Ads, Careers Pages and Onboarding

Mark Giddens · 5 May 2026

A recruitment video is a decent investment, so it makes sense to get as much use out of it as you can. With a bit of planning up front, one shoot can cover your job ads, your careers page, social media and onboarding.

1. Job ads that stand out

Job boards are full of listings that look the same. A short video in your ad:

  • Gets attention
  • Shows the role and the site before anyone applies
  • Helps people decide whether they fit, which means better applications

For job ads, shorter is better: a 15 to 30 second cutdown, with captions because a lot of people watch with the sound off.

2. A careers page that tells the story

Your careers page is where interested people go to find out more. That's the place for the full 60 to 120 second video, with your people talking about the work, the training and where the job can lead. It builds trust and helps people picture themselves on your team.

3. Onboarding that saves time

The footage you shoot for recruitment is often useful again once someone starts. With some extra planning on the day, we can capture what you need for:

  • A welcome from site leaders
  • A walkthrough of the site and where things are
  • An introduction to the safety culture and key procedures

For full site inductions and procedures, a dedicated training video is the better tool, but recruitment footage is a good start for a friendly welcome.

4. Social media

Short edits shared on LinkedIn and Facebook help promote open roles, send people to your careers page and build your reputation as an employer over time, including with people who aren't looking for a job just yet.

Plan the versions before the shoot

The trick is deciding up front where the video will be used. Then we can film the right shots and deliver the right versions: 16:9 for your website, plus square and vertical cuts for social media, all from the same shoot.

Common questions

Can one video cover several roles? Yes. A main video about working with you, plus short role-specific edits, works well.

How long should it be? 60 to 120 seconds for the main video, and 15 to 30 seconds for job ads and social media.
